Washing Hands in the Clouds

One day (and this was not recently, but I wanted to write about this) my daughter and I were in the car. Looking out the window she asked me 'What's that?' She was a little more than 2 years old back then I believe, and after a little effort on my part I realized she was pointing to the clouds.

'Those are clouds', I said and was happy to teach her a new word. But to my amazement, staring at the clouds she said, 'I wanna wash my hands in them.'

Clouds do look like something we could wash hands in, don't they? I wonder who learned something new.

I Can Do That!

When my daughter was still too young to read, I bought a set of 5 or 6 books by Dr. Seuss and P.D. Eastman. It became a nightly routine to read one (or mostly all) of those books to her before she went to bed. My favorite- Are you my Mother? Her favorite- The Cat in the Hat.

So when I saw The Cat in the Hat I Can Do That! game at a store recently, I had to buy it. And good thing I did. My daughter loves how the fish, the ball, the rake, Mom's dotted gown and more are all there for her to play with. Great fun for the whole family, my husband and I had a great time trying to jump over and crawl under the Trick-a-ma-stick! And not to forget it encourages the 'I can do that' attitude in kids. And what parent does not want that, right?
